The movie is full of anachronisms, factual errors, and for the benefit of drama. Take me home, country roads, also known simply as country roads, is a song written by bill danoff, taffy nivert and john denver about west virginia. It was character and image driven more than dialogue. It is a drama for sure however with strong performances from the lead actor and actresses. It seemed evident that this movie was more than meets the eye. This is NOT who John was, it is the exact OPPOSITE of who John was. Was a legend among musicians that was taken too soon in life. However watching the end made me curious and I wanted to give the movie a proper chance. This movie was just plain misinformative, and the worst thing of all was how they portrayed John's persona: whiny, excessively naive, immature, and ignorant is how he comes across in this film. Did you know that John Denver's brother, Ron Deutschendorf, saw this movie and was so deeply offended by it (along with his mother) for the terrible miscalculations and fictional accounts of John's life incorporated into this so-called "biopic"? And I agree with John's family members whole-heartedly. On the other hand, the movie does have its moments and a sort of labor of love vibe, so it is hard to seriously hate it either.I was shocked to see all the positive reviews about this movie. And then you have the giant lapses of logic like Claire's not wanting to fly even for her seriously ill father(although it is implied later that some reticence on her part might be understandable) and Thom's taking Claire's instruction to drive literally, in a straight line instead of around Central Park, then you have a seriously lost cause. With a movie that starts off with as many cliches as "Take Me Home" does in the road movie department, it is kind of hard to overcome them.
